I believe that teaching is one of the most uniquely impactful jobs that someone can have. I was drawn to teaching with the hope to share my enjoyment of language learning with others. As a student, I wasnt aware of how much I enjoyed learning foreign languages until quite late in my educational journey when I had a teacher who truly inspired me to continue studying languages as often as I can. This inspiration is what drew me to teaching English as a second or foreign language and drives me to create an engaging and educational learning environment that may hopefully encourage my future students to pursue languages as well. Through my time teaching I have found that students engaged well when I presented myself as approachable and accepted any mistakes that I made openly. Through this, I hope to make my future classroom a comfortable environment in which mistakes are acceptable and students are able to find and utilize the learning style that works best for them. I found through the duration of my practicum that students felt comfortable addressing concerns with my teaching style directly with me and strive to continue to have my class setting be an environment in which students are comfortable to do so. To creat such and environment I found that it is important to engage with and get to know the students in class while also enabling the students to get to know me and feel comfortable speaking with me. I feel that throughout my upcoming time as a teacher I will continue to grow personally and professionally while reflecting on what it means to be a teacher to myself and for my students.
